Training school objectives
The aim of the Training School (TS) is to provide background knowledge and practical training related to application of thin strip method and microtensile testing in characterization of wood surface.

Afternoon: Introduction,
Basics of thin strip method – theoretical background
Thursday, 3 July 2014
Morning: Possibilities of application of thin strip method in wood research - Effectiveness of surface treatments and depth profile assessment during photodegradation; Monitoring of bioincizing efficiency; Principles of material preparation
Afternoon: Material preparation and testing - hands on session
Friday, 4 July 2014
Morning: Analysis and interpretation of results; Activation spectra in photodegradation of wood; Discussion
Financial support obtained from COST for trainees
For travel cost maximum of € 650 per trainee will be granted.
Number of participants: 20.
The training school will start on 2 July, at 2 p.m. (lunch at 1 p.m.) so travelling on Wednesday morning is possible. The participants should book hotels in Zagreb.
Application
We encourage interested scientists to send an informal application together with a letter of motivation. The letter of motivation (max. 1 page) should contain information on how the applicant will benefit from the Training School and in which way the learned techniques will be applied in her/his scientific work.
Send in your application to Vjekoslav Živkovic. Please forward your application by 26 May 2014 at the latest. The selected candidates will be informed no later than 5 June 2014.
