Call for Training School

Training school objectives
The aim of the Training School (TS) is to provide background knowledge and practical training related to micro CT scanning of modified wood and procedures to assess moisture dynamics in relation to time of wetness as a parameter to predict service life.
In particular it is intended to attract early research researchers
The topics presented at this TS are in the frame of the Action activities and will provide both background info and intensive training.

Proposed schedule
The TS duration is 2 days (15-16 April 2013).
Monday, 15 April 2013
Morning: X-ray tomography for assessing wood modification: theoretical background
Afternoon: X-ray tomography for assessing wood modification: hand-on session
Tuesday, 16 April 2013
Morning: Moisture dynamics and service life prediction
Afternoon: Excursion to thermal modification plant and related building projects

Financial support obtained from COST for trainees
For travel cost maximum of € 650 per trainee will be granted.
Number of participants: 20
Location: Ghent University, Laboratory of Wood Technology, Coupure links 653, 9000 Ghent, Belgium.

We encourage interested scientists to send in an informal application together with a letter of motivation.
The letter of motivation (max. 1 page) should contain information on how the applicant will benefit from the Training School and in which way the learned techniques will be applied in her/his scientific work.

Please forward your application by 8 February 2013 at the latest.
The selected candidates will be informed no later than 19 February 2013.
